Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanic Gardens Field Trip November 11, 2013

This month's field trip was to the Huntington Library and special Junipero Serra and the Legacies of the California Missions exhibit from Aug 17 to Jan 6, 2014.  The exhibit was a collection of 250 religious, paintings, maps, letters, drawings, Indian artifacts and other objects from the Huntington and 60 lenders in the US, Mexico and Spain to coincide with the 300th anniversary of Serra's birth on the island of Majorca.  It is interesting to note that November 24th is California's Father Serra Day.  Also noteworthy is the opening of the remodeled and restructured Huntington Library the preceding Friday, November 8.     This picture was taken with our tour leader Christine The Renovated Library and its collections This is t
