Scientists find underwater asphalt volcanoes off Santa Barbara -------------------- Rising about 65 feet above the seafloor, they probably last erupted 30,000 to 40,000 years ago, says a UC Santa Barbara geochemist. The black, craggy mounds are teeming with marine life.
